Former Swansea and Wellington coach John Plumtree is set to succeed Dick Muir as coach of the Sharks.
The announcement follows SA Rugby's confirmation that the current Sharks Coach Dick Muir has been appointed as one of the Springbok Assistant Coaches.

Subsequently the Sharks Board announced this afternoon that Plumtree has been appointed as the new Head Coach for the Sharks effective 1 June 2008.

Plumtree has many years of experience as Head Coach at Swansea in Wales and Wellington in New Zealand.

He also coached the Sharks in the 2007 Absa Currie Cup in which the team, minus their Springboks, reached the semi-final of the competition.  He is therefore no stranger and has a fantastic track record.

The Management Team will also be appointed after the completion of the 2008 Super 14 competition has run its course.  Management will include a new Team Doctor as Dr Craig Roberts has also been appointed to the Springbok Management Team.

In a statement the Sharks Board said, "On behalf of all at The Sharks and the KZN Rugby Union we congratulate both Dick and Craig on their appointments and wish them both good luck in their new positions with the Springboks."
