RFU National Academy coaches Jim Mallinder & Nigel Redman today named their team for the final match of the IRB U21 World Championship taking place tomorrow in Mendoza, Argentina.
Leicester centre Matt Cornwell resumes the captaincy for the final encounter against Six Nations champions Wales at Liceo Rugby Club, kick off 11am local time (3pm UK time) tomorrow, Saturday. England went in to the competition seeded seventh which is where they will finish if they secure a win from their last game.
Said Mallinder, We were very disappointed with the game against Argentina and will be looking for a marked improvement from this one. We know that Wales are a good side, they won the Six Nations beating us comfortably at the beginning of the season. This final fixture will give us a measure of how far weve come with our performance.
The tournament has been a real challenge and has given the opportunity for lots of young players to play on a world stage against quality opposition, said Redman. Most of the guys will still be eligible for this age group next year and theyll have benefited from this experience and hopefully that will stand them in good stead for future tournaments.
