US Rugby to auction signed RWC 7s ball
15 April 2005, 12:00 am
In its ongoing fundraising efforts to support rugby in America, the United States Rugby Football Foundation is auctioning a ball signed by the players, including captain and tournament MVP, Waisale Serevi, of the newly crowned Sevens World Champions, Fiji.

No ALT tag specifiedThe Foundation is excited and fortunate to have in its possession a ball signed by this wonderful Fijian side, said USRFF Executive Director Brian Vizard, himself a three-time participant of the Hong Kong Sevens and a member of the inaugural US World Cup Sevens team in 1993. But rather than have it on display in our offices, we feel it is far more valuable to us in raising funds to help support our programs in the States, specifically youth and high school rugby.

We truly appreciated the Fiji team taking the time to accommodate our request. The Foundation would also like to thank the teams from New Zealand, England and Argentina who also autographed balls for us in Los Angeles and Hong Kong.

The autographed ball can be found on eBay at eBay.com, then enter the item number, 5180811564 in the search field and click the Search button. The bidding will end at 10:00 am PST on April 24, 2005. All proceeds from the auction will be targeted for youth and high school rugby grants.

The USRFF is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization established in 1963. Although its main focus is supporting youth and high school rugby, the Foundation also provides grants to coaches and referees; establishes international student exchanges and college scholarships, has assisted the United States Collegiate All-Americans and Boys Under-19 teams, and also provides grants to Safety and Risk Management Research.

The USRFF has also established a Community of Funds program which can be of benefit to every club in the United States.
