The scrum.com team
Graham Jenkins - Senior Editor An avid sports fan, more often than not from his armchair, Graham found his way into the Scrum office in 1999 in the build-up to the Rugby World Cup and has played a key role in our site's unrivalled coverage. He took over the reins in 2001 and lists England's World Cup triumph, the British & Irish Lions tour of Australia and RWC'99 as major highlights. As Editor he reported from the front line and spent the World Cup on the ground in Australia, before adopting a roving role throughout the world reporting on the game we love. On his return to the UK he continuned as a freelance contributor before re-joining the team as Managing Editor, co-ordinating Scrum's editorial coverage.
Paul McFarland
A sports journalist who moved into new media so long ago - 1978 - that it wasn't even called "new media" then! Spells working in Videotext, online databases and as marketing director for the Press Association, plus five years as MD of a marketing services company, preceded his return to new media publishing in 1997. He was Scrum.com Ltd MD from 1998-2000 and then MD of Umbrella Media for a year before returning to Scrum 2002-2007. He now works as a consultant for Scrum and also owns sportswear and corporate-wear business Tacklebag Ltd. He also retains his management consultancy business. A sports nut, he is also chairman of the Development Academy at London Scottish and a qualified youth coach and referee.
John Taylor John Taylor won his first cap for Wales at the age of 21 and played 26 Tests during a distinguished career which also included two British Lions tours. He was also recently voted Wales' Greatest Ever No.7. Now a rugby writer he is also ITV's voice of rugby.
Huw Richards Huw has been with Scrum since 1998; he is the rugby writer for the Financial Times and has published numerous rugby books including ghosting the autobiography of Robert Jones.
Jonathan McConnell Jonathan has been involved in rugby for as long as he can remember. The son of a referee he played at junior levels in Ulster and in the South West of England before gracefully retiring. He has written for various sports magazines and has contributed to test match programmes for the past 20 years. He was first involved with Scrum as their Celtic Nations editor from 1998 until 2001 and played a major part in their coverage of the 1999 World Cup. After a spell working for Plymouth Albion he returned to Scrum as part of the team who covered the 2003 World Cup, and following stint in the Editor' chair he now is a freelance contributor.
John Inverdale
John Inverdale is still waiting for his first international cap, but at 46 fears that time is running out. He still plays for Esher RFC as well as being part of their committee. This year promises a 5th Olympic Games for the BBC as well as the Ryder Cup, Wimbledon and most important of all, the World's Strongest Man. When his rugby days are over, he may consider the world of powerlifting as an alternative.
Shaun Rusk
The old man of the team, came into sports journalism via banking in the City of London and paratrooping. Coached at Harlequins for 6 years in the 90's and various representative teams with the likes of internationals Richard Hill, Dan Luger, Colin Charvis, Rob Henderson and Justin Ftizpatrick all coming under his steely gaze. Main coaching responsibilties now - his son Harry in the Richmond Under 7's team!
Dave Mervyn
A Dublin-based freelance who covers a variety of sports, but considers rugby the golden chalice. A regular contributor to the Sunday Times, Sunday Tribune, and RTE. Covered the 2003 Rugby World Cup from Down Under for Scrum, and regularly loses his voice and neutrality at England games! Went to the same school as international props Reggie Corrigan and Nick Popplewell, hence the well looked after six pack!
