The Ireland and Munster scrum-half is one of the most recognisable men in world rugby.
The diminutive, shaven headed link-man has played nearly 90 times for his country since making his debut against Scotland in February 2000.
Domestically he is fondly remembered for his 2006 performance in the Heineken Cup when a charateristic sniping run from the base of a scrum saw him scamper over for a crucial match-winning try that saw Munster defeat French side, Biarritz.
He has struck up a formidable partnership with the Ireland fly-half Ronan O'Gara with whom he played with at Presentation Brothers College in Cork and has scored six tries in his international career.
