Horan to miss Ireland Tests
Scrum.com
November 6, 2009

Ireland will be without Marcus Horan for Tests against Australia, Fiji and South Africa in November after the Munster prop underwent an unspecified "routine medical procedure".

Horan was replaced early on in Munster's Heineken Cup victory over Treviso three weeks ago after complaining of dizziness and will now be unavailable until the New Year. Ireland coach Declan Kidney has named his 31-man squad to face Australia next weekend, with young Leinster duo Jonathan Sexton and Cian Healy among those retained.

Brian O'Driscoll has been confirmed as skipper for the series and is joined in the squad by a number of experienced faces. British & Irish Lions Rob Kearney, Tommy Bowe, Luke Fitzgerald, Keith Earls, Stephen Ferris, Jamie Heaslip, Ronan O' Gara, David Wallace, Donncha O'Callaghan and Paul O'Connell will all make their return to the Test scene.

London Irish skipper Bob Casey has also been named in the full squad after leading the Exiles to a Heineken Cup victory over reigning champions Leinster in Dublin. Neither Casey or Mick O'Driscoll were named in the 39-strong squad for this week's training camp in Limerick but both feature. Felix Jones, Ian Dowling, Denis Hurley, Niall Ronan and John Muldoon are also new faces after missing out on the original 39.

Kidney also named a 22-man Ireland 'A' squad to face Tonga at Ravenhill next Friday, with Leinster veteran Shane Horgan forced to make do with a place in that squad alongside Northampton's Neil Best. Jerry Flannery is being monitored after a calf injury, meaning that Sean Cronin and John Fogarty have been retained in the senior squad, with one dropping in to the 'A' side at a later date.
