Hooker Dave Ward has completed a switch from Northampton Saints to Premiership rivals Sale Sharks.

Ward, 23, made six appearances for the Northampton last season, scoring four tries, as the Saints marched to the National League One title and secured promotion back to the top flight.

"We're pleased to welcome Dave to the club. This is a great opportunity for him to develop his career," said Sharks' Director of Rugby Philippe Saint-Andre who has seen his squad ravaged by injury in recent weeks - including a long-term injury to hooker Sebastien Bruno.

Ward, who also has Premiership experience with Bath, said, "I immediately jumped at the chance to join Sale Sharks, a team playing so well at the moment. There are a lot of talented players here."
