Ireland and Argentina will meet at Croke Park for the first time on Saturday in the latest chapter of one of the most closely fought rivalries in world rugby.

Since their first Test meeting in 1990 there have been nine further clashes, with honours held even at five apiece. Ireland have not beaten the Pumas since 2004, and suffered a demoralising defeat in Paris during last season's World Cup.

The Irish need to take away a result from the game in order to ensure their rankings for the 2011 World Cup are not unduly affected but, as they have found out in the past, the Pumas will be in no mood to give them an easy ride.
