Castres president Pierre-Yves Revol has been elected as Serge Blanco's successor at the head of the French professional league's governing body, the Ligue Nationale de Rugby (LNR).

Revol replaces former French international full-back Blanco, who has headed the committee for ten years. Blanco announced in June that he would not be putting himself forward for re-election, deciding to devote more time to personal endeavours and to the running of Biarritz, the club he has served as a player, president and administrator.

Revol, who has been Castres president for 20 years, beat competition from current European Rugby Cup chairman Jean-Pierre Lux to the position, and will serve over a four-year term. Revol's responsibilities will be to the clubs and running of the Top 14 and Pro Division 2.

The election spells bad new for Castres, as Revol is required to relinquish his post with the side currently languishing one-from-bottom in the Top 14.
